Bitcoin gains momentum in US as politicians jump on board

Bitcoin is soon likely to outgrow the “fringe” politics that initially helped get it started and slowly but surely join the mainstream of US finance, argues Marc Andreessen, Venture capitalist and first internet browser inventor. The public, politicians and law enforcers among them, seem to have really warmed up to the idea of cryptocurrency use, with a number of steps already been made to turn the bitcoin into an official financial instrument.

Bitcoin got where it is today largely thanks to early devotees of the libertarian community, who eagerly welcomed the idea of replacing conventional currencies with something that could operate without third parties’ involvement, central banks and regulators just to name a few. But venture capitalist and strong Bitcoin proponent Marc Andreessen says that the “fringe politics” would soon be left behind.
